Umbraco CMS Acquired by Software Investor Monterro

Website redesign planning session with whiteboard

Umbraco recently announced that the Swedish Software Growth investor Monterro has acquired a majority stake in Umbraco. This change has many Umbraco community members and Umbraco gold partners like us, wondering what will the future hold for this friendly, open source product we all love.

Well, right now the goal is simple: keep Umbraco open-source and continue growing the product worldwide. Umbraco CEO Kim Sneum Madsen stated that “With extensive CMS experience and a true belief in open-source software, Monterro is a perfect match as we strive to meet the increasing demand for best-of-breed DXP solutions that make complex technologies easy to use.“ He went on to say “With Monterro’s valuable guidance and capital, we will continue to work closely with our active open-source community to bring the Umbraco family of user-friendly, flexible, and robust CMS platforms to an even greater portfolio of companies in even more countries.”

With more than 700,000 installations, Umbraco is one of the most deployed Web Content Management Systems on the Microsoft stack and we hope this acquisition provides great opportunities and positive changes for Umbraco while maintaining our unique, knowledgeable community.
